Value-Weighted Dutching Calculator

©Property of Honest John Tipster pixel-8.biz Home of Punters Tools

This tool lets you dutch multiple horses, but instead of equal profit, it tilts more stake toward the horses you believe are the best value, based on your own “true” odds.

Horses

For each horse, enter the market odds on offer and your own view of the true odds. The calculator will ignore any runners where the true odds are actually worse than the market.

Why use value-weighted dutching?

Traditional dutching spreads your stake so that whichever horse wins, you make roughly the same profit. That is perfect when all your selections are more or less equal in your eyes.

Value-weighted dutching is for the days when you fancy three or four runners, but one of them looks a real stand-out at the price. Instead of treating them all equally, this calculator quietly nudges more of your stake toward the horses where your view of the race says the bookmakers are most wrong.

Honest John's Strategy: "Lean into your edge"

A simple way to use this calculator:

  • Shortlist the real contenders: Use your race reading (or my three-horse tips) to find the 3–5 runners you can see actually winning.
  • Set your own tissue: For each horse, jot down what you think the fair odds should be if you were the bookmaker.
  • Spot the value: When your true odds are shorter than the market odds, you have a value edge.
  • Let the calculator do the rest: Enter both sets of odds and your total stake. It will tilt your staking towards the horses with the biggest edge.
