Back multiple horses with calculated stakes to guarantee the same profit regardless of which selection wins.

Horses

Why back one horse when you can back three?

The old saying goes: "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." This is especially true in betting.

Dutching with Fixed Stake is the perfect strategy for the disciplined punter. It allows you to take a strict budget (e.g., £20) and spread it mathematically across multiple runners. If any of your selections win, you get the exact same return. It eliminates the frustration of backing the "wrong" winner in your shortlist.

Honest John's Strategy: "The Two Against the Field"

This is my favorite way to use this calculator on a Saturday:

  • Find a Vulnerable Favorite: Look for a race where the favorite is short-priced but has flaws (e.g., carrying top weight or drawn wide).
  • Pick the Dangers: Identify the 2 or 3 horses most likely to beat him.
  • Dutch Them: Enter your total stake (e.g., £20). The calculator splits it perfectly. Now, instead of sweating on one horse, you have a "Team" running for you against the favorite.

What does "Arbitrage" mean?

You might see a green ARBITRAGE badge appear on this calculator. This is the Holy Grail of betting.

It means the combined odds of your horses are so high that the "Book Percentage" is less than 100%. In simple terms: the math has broken in your favor. If you cover every outcome in a race and the percentage is below 100%, you cannot lose. While rare to find covering a whole race, finding it across 3 or 4 horses is a strong signal of value.
