Well if like me you have had enough of the gloom and misery of the recession and long wet summers followed by long cold winters now is the time to do something about it. How do you fancy a week of luxury in a villa in an acre of its own secluded grounds with all main meals included and 4 beautiful models to photograph and workshops everyday? Sounds good doesn't it? Then read on
I've been resident Photographer on a few glamour holidays over the years and
they can be pretty dire with basic accommodation and minimal facilities. So
I asked what do photographers really want from a glamour photography holiday?
* Secluded locations
* Food as part of the holiday
* A relaxed and friendly atmosphere
* Everyone on the same site and socialising
* Organised shoots across the week and not bun fights
* Time for 1 to 1's with the models
* Some asked if they could bring their partner along for a beach holiday without having to pay the full Photographer fee
* Finally Sun and opportunities to take some great pictures.
So I have addressed every single one of the above views.
Firstly the villa is in 1 acre of private land secluded with electronic gates. You can pick oranges and lemons from the trees as you stroll through the grounds. It is wonderful if everyone can eat together socially so breakfast and evening meals are included in the price. We have the entire complex so there is room to move around, maybe by the pool or on one of the many veranda's.
Should any photographers require to bring their partner who just wants a beach holiday and not photographic then we can accommodate that with two superior double rooms and the partner can spend the week at their own leisure, for a much reduced rate.
Next I feel passionate that the week should have a purpose and a serious goal, so the week will be about creating a glamour calendar of professional standard. Each day we will as a group tackle a certain type of glamour be it 6.30am on the beach as the sun rises, or 11.30 at night using flash out of doors with the towns lights in the background, or midday around the small harbour. Every session we will all work together just as we do at a Sunday workshop, each taking it in turns to be, photographer, creative director, 1st assistant and 2nd assistant. During the course of the week we will tackle every type of glamour set up outdoors in harsh light, inside with daylight, outside with flash, inside with flash, on the beach, by the pool and anywhere you can think of.
At the end of the week each photographer will submit two of his favourite
pictures and as a group we will pick one from each so every photographer will
have one picture to be included in the calendar. Finally the 4 models will
select from the pictures left their favourite to be added to the calendar.
Finally as a group we will work with all the girls to create one final picture
that will be the final picture for the calendar and cover.
There will be the opportunity to use a make up artist in each group workshops, but of course there will be lots of opportunities for photographers to work with any of the models on a 1 to 1 basis during rest times.
So to recap: 12 photographers and 4 models all staying in the same villa complex with secluded grounds and pool, myself taking the workshops in my usual organic way, 2 sessions each day some morning, afternoon or evening. My wife and I will provide the meals so they will be home cooked with local ingredients.
Each day a group buffet breakfast and evening meal. This will be seated at a large table so plenty of opportunities to socialise it may be inside or outside in BBQ style. All food for both meals is included in the cost. People are expected to provide their own drinks and their own lunch.
Once the evening meal is over of course the nightlife is available providing you remember if its an early start or not. :) One night will be made available for everyone as a group to enjoy a local restaurant with no morning session the following day included in the price.
So the price not including flights will be £950 per photographer. Flights for this time of year at present are around £160.00 Saturday October 23rd to Saturday 30th. You can arrange your own flights from a convenient airport for you. If you have a partner who would like to join you then their cost will be £475 breakfast and evening meal included.
The Villa is south of Malaga airport. It is gorgeous and set in almost an acre of lush tropical gardens with orange, lemon, avocado and pomegranate trees all available for you to use as photo opportunities. There are also many terraces for you to use and being south facing means you have sun all day but there are also shaded terraces for you to escape to with your chilled champagne. There is a port a 5 minute drive away and it is the largest port on the Costa del Sol. Shops, restaurants and bars are all within a 2 minute drive. The BBQ and outdoor kitchen will be used for Alfresco dining on occasions too. The villa has security gates with video - intercom, parking for 8 cars and it is completely private.
