It's hard to believe that we are at the end of another year, it really doesn't seem that long ago that I was offering all my newsletter readers the chance to download the Pixel 8 Studio calendar. I've enjoyed the pictures each month from last years group shoots and workshops.
2011 has been an amazing year for group shoots and I have certainly upped the quantity and quality of happenings here as we have moved outside into some fabulous locations as well the studio.
The first outside shoot this year was at the country house, followed by a pub and then onto an indoor swimming pool/Gymnasium. Pictures and video of the event to view here.
This was followed with the biggest group shoot yet at an unusual retail unit in a town very close to the studio offering not only beautiful models, but unusual and exciting opportunities. Pictures and video of the event to view here.
Finally for the outdoor location shoots of 2011 it was topped by the incredible location shoot a few days ago in a large factory unit. Again beautiful models and very exciting locations allowing the opportunity for every photographer present to really stretch themselves to create some great images. As well as the location shoots there is a group shoot one Sunday every month where photographers have the opportunity to shoot a beautiful model in the studio in a group of 5 for two hours for only £50.00. There are always lots of changes of costume and lighting so from the very experienced to the total beginner there is a real opportunity to improve a portfolio and of course meet other photographers of many abilities.
I have always offered training on a 1 to 1 basis in both the studio and on location, however in 2011 I offered my first beginners training day. 4 photographers a model and a day of concentrated picture taking both outside and in the studio. I am experienced in training photography and loved the fact with this new offering with 4 photographers the price was extremely reasonable, compared with similar courses, and I had time to spend time with each individual ensuring they gained the maximum from our projects. The feedback from the day was 100% positive.
So I have been asked again and again if I will be doing more courses like this and I most certainly will. Details below.

The gorgeous Ashlea caused a massive stir at our group shoot in December and this is your chance to shoot with her for only £50.00. The usual 2 x 2 hour sessions of 5 photographers. Lots of different outfits and styles definitely not to be missed if you're serious about having a great portfolio. Ashlea will be modelling many styles including figure nude. |
Studio Days

a great selection of models I will be confirming who and when my first

Don't forget I am delighted to provide 1 2 1 training in the studio, or
out of doors, I can provide a model and in depth training for 2 1/2 hours
for only £150 inclusive of model and studio. The time will naturally
be tailored to your requirements as we are all different. Naturally I
can offer longer sessions whatever you require training wise please just
ask.

Thoughts from the White room
It really has been a very enjoyable year for me, with so many improvements and meeting so many new photographers of every possible ability. I have seen 3 photographers in particular grow from nervous beginners earlier this year into confident image takers creating some amazing images, using the group shoots, location days and model days to improve and practice.
I have also had some real surprises this year too in so much as several photographers have been surprised at the high quality of the equipment here, the ease of use and the friendly help they receive. It seems others in business have not been as neutral as maybe they should. So let me reiterate. This is a professional studio using Bowens lights with large softboxes. The lights are fired by radio triggers that fit all cameras except Sony Minolta, but nothing fits them and users know that. I have 3 flash meters available to use and happy to show anyone how to use them. There is the white room, the cottage and the office all available within the single hire. Extra lights and props are everywhere and still room to move around and create your images. If anyone tells you any different let me know. :)
Due to the rising costs of gas and electric and the fact this studio has central heating I am now after 4 years of static prices having to raise my prices to £20.00 per hour for studio hire from the 1st January 2012. I understand money is tight so for readers of my newsletter I am keeping the cost to £15.00 until March as a little warning only seems fair.
